What is the Gabon BIETC Certificate?
To ensure the full value of your shipment, a valid BIETC certificate—also known as a BSC or ECTN—is required. Delaying the application can lead to severe fines, possibly matching the value of the exported goods, as customs clearance without it will incur penalties. This certificate has been mandatory for all shipments to Libreville, Owendo, Mayumba, or any other port since it was enforced by Gabonese customs officials in 2010.
Certificate Requirements
What documents are required for the Gabon BIETC certificate?
The following documents are necessary for the BIETC certificate:
- Bill of Lading (Draft copy can be used for the application, but the original is required for validation)
- Commercial Invoice
- Freight Invoice (Not necessary if the freight value is included in the Commercial Invoice)
- Customs Declaration
To begin the certification process, send PDF versions of these documents to info@ectnindia.com. Hard copies are not needed for issuing the BIETC certificate. Ensure the documents you submit are final, as revisions after validation will incur penalties.
Before transportation, the shipper must apply for the BIETC certificate. The BIETC number must be provided to the shipping line to include it on the bill of lading.
