The ECTN (Electronic Cargo Tracking Note) is a mandatory document required by several African countries for all shipments arriving at their ports. It provides advance cargo information to the authorities and helps improve security and efficiency at customs.
To apply for an ECTN, you typically need the following:
-Bill of Lading (B/L)
-Commercial Invoice
-Freight Invoice (if not included in the commercial invoice)
-Export Customs Declaration
-Packing List
No, each ECTN is valid for one shipment only and is linked to a specific Bill of Lading. If you have multiple shipments or separate Bills of Lading, a new ECTN must be issued for each one.
Once all required documents are submitted and verified, the ECTN certificate can usually be issued within 1–2 business days. Urgent processing may be available upon request.
